According to promotional material, Fashion Uncorked is a jewelry-inspired design competition that features an exclusive wine tasting from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and a sampling of fine food to benefit Easter Seals North Georgia.
Held at the beautiful Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, this Project –Runway style event with a twist will feature 10 of Atlanta’s top emerging designers as they create four looks inspired by Theresa Howard’s bold statement jewelry.
The beneficiary, Easter Seals (North Georgia branch), is a non-profit organization that has been in existence for almost 100 years, since 1907. Easter Seal’s mission is to help disabled people and their families. It was established by an Ohio-businessman named Edgar Allen after his son was killed in a streetcar accident. The seal, developed in the 30s, was a means to receive charity and the lily on the seal represents resurrection and new life.
Fashion Uncorked 2012 is being held on February 11, 2012.
The host of Fashion Uncorked 2012 is Monica Pearson, Channel 2 News Anchor. Judges are Jessica Black, Miss United States 2010; Courtney Hammonds, an international etiquette and image expert, college professor, author, spokesperson and public speaker; Rafael Cox, fashion designer owner of Rafael Cox, former Fashion Uncorked Contestant (2011) and former Project Runway Contestant (2011); Marcus Jackson, the CEO and owner of CALIBER Enterprises, an Atlanta based but internationally connected boutique entertainment firm; Holly Firfer, CNN Anchor; Dr. Melissa Manuel, Fashion & Retail Management at the Art Institute of Atlanta and its Decatur branch; JaVaun Gorman, an instructor at the Art Institute of Atlanta in the Fashion & Retail Management Program; and Special Guest Judge, Jenine Cotrice Addison, aka Cotrice, fashion designer owner of the Cotrice Collection and former contestant of Lifetime's Project Accessory.
Fashion Uncorked administrators recently revealed the top 10 fashion designers who are slated to compete in the Fashion Uncorked 2012 Competition.
