FDIC Money Smart course reaches wide audience

The FDIC Money Smart financial education program was launched in 2001 and its goal is to reach individuals outside of the financial mainstream and equip these individuals with the skills necessary to manage financial resources and develop positive banking relationships. This FDIC initiative has been extremely successful in reaching their targeted audience and surpassed goals to reach 1 million consumers. Since its inception the Money Smart financial education curriculum has reached 2.4million consumers.

The courses are facilitated by nonprofits organizations. Community groups, school districts and financial institutions. The courses are free and the curriculum is available in English and Spanish. Check the Money Smart page to find an alliance member in your area. Some organizations have adult and young adult courses and offer computer based instruction.
