The FDA is seeking citizen alerts to all consumers as well as health care professionals for their help in obtaining detailed information relating to drugs and heath products.
MedWatch now wants everyone’s input to help the FDA gather information to make their reports more concise. According to an updated news article in the AARP In The News Bulletin in the September 2013 issue volume 54 number 7 there are many additional phases to information that needs to be obtained.
The FDA is looking for assistance through consumers seeking out a citizen’s alert in an effort to find out more about the serious side effects relating to drugs. (Prescription and over-the-counter) They are looking for feedback on adverse effects and safety issues regarding medical devices as well as any adverse and dangerous reactions to foods available on the market and also any allergic reactions that may be related to any and all cosmetic or beauty products.
Consumers can also submit a voluntary report if they find issues with herbal remedies, infant formulas, dietary supplements, nutrition products, medical devices, contacts, breast implants, pacemakers, prescription drugs, test kits, over-the-counter drugs, cosmetics, foods and beverages.
MedWatch and the FDA are making it easy for consumers to voice their concerns and findings. Any and all questions will be answered through their toll-free phone line at 1-800-332-1088 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. as well as giving everyone the option to report on-line through their voluntary reporting form.
Utilize this voluntary report form to explain in detail your findings and concerns.
Help yourself and others and send in a report if you find products mislabeled, have had a reaction or serious side effect to any product to help the FDA keep track of these additional signs and update warning labels on products with your help.
Stay safe and healthy!
