At Bedrock City's Webster location, at an event described as 'Nerd Christmas', the line started at 8 am, in front of the Bedrock City in Webster TX.:30

For the earliest of arrivals refreshments was distributed and starting around 8:30, an illusionist performed for the ever growing line of fans outside the doors. At 10:00 am, the doors opened and the guests were able to pick up their choice of five different books specially released for this event.

While some publishers released previously published or reprinted content, some companies such as Red 5, publishers of Atomic Robo, and Arcahia Press released yet another all ages book of short stories, again in hardback format, an unheard of practice from most other publishers, but has made this book a fan favorite the past three years.

Meanwhile, Bedrock City and members of Comicpalooza's went out to two movie theater locations, Santikos Palladium AVX in Katy and Santikos Silverado IMAX in Tomball. They gave out free free comic books and even four-day passes to Comicpalooza 2014 and a Amazing Spider-Man 2 give-aways.

ABC Bodyart provided free face painting, for the kids. There were even cosplayers available to take pictures with the fans.

At 3rd Planet's sci-fi and comic shop fans were able to meet and purchase sketches from local artists Jamie Kinosian, Isaiah Broussard, Anthony Gay, and ,James Linares. Brittney Karbowski, anime voice actress and publishers Bad Cog Studios and Mental Diversions were also on hand for the day.

At All-Star Comics and Games at San Jacinto Mall in Baytown , TX , Creator signings, a gaming tournament and cosplayers were all on hand for the days festivities.

Shops from 8th Dimension Comics in Houston to the Pop Culture Company in Katy had something special for the fans that came in for Free Comic Book Day.

This annual event has been supprted by Stan Lee and Hugh Jackman, and gives a chance for the comic book industry to be part of a literacy movement to get kids to read through the mediumof comic books.
