FC Kansas City unveiled their new logo Thursday afternoon. According to the club the new logo represents the ever-flowing qualities that make up the game of women’s professional soccer.
While the team is hesitant to say it, the original logo was never meant to be permanent. In order to launch when the league was announced, they needed a logo and they quickly built one realizing that it might need tweaking at a later point.
FC Kansas City did listen to fans that universally were not in favor of the original logo. “One of the main reasons we do this is for Kansas City, for the fans,” explained Team President Brian Budzinski. “We listened to the fans, we listened to the community and the feedback wasn’t overly positive about our old logo. Just like with the Comets we listened to the fan base, that is what is important to us. We reevaluated the situation, had multiple designers from all across the country and a couple internationals work on different logos. We got feedback from various sources and that is how we determined what the new logo, the new look and the change of the color scheme.”
The club is looking at this as a step in the evolvement of the overall brand. The new logo, the color scheme needed to be ready for the NWSL draft next week because the team plans on their draft picks wearing some form of gear with the new FC Kansas City logo on it.
