Nearly 16,000 fans watched as FC Dallas improved to 10-7-6 as they tamed the Colorado Rapids 3-1 at Toyota Stadium for their eighth straight league win.

Two of the three goals came in the opening 12 minutes of the game. The first at the 9 minute mark as FC Dallas attacked goalkeeper Clint Irwin with multiple shots before captain Matt Hedges drilled the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.

Just two minutes later FC Dallas Defender, Michel beat Irwin to his left side for his seventh goal of the season. The goal came via a penalty kick setup by Colorado defender Marvell Wynne who was whistled in the corner of the Rapids’ penalty area for fouling FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele.

In the 56th minute FC Dallas added their third goal of the night when Fabian Castillo kicked a left-footed shot past Irwin for the insurance goal.

The Rapids scored in the 86th minutes on a goal from Gabriel Torres but it was too little too late as the game ended in favor of FC Dallas.

In addition to the four total goals and a game-time temperature of 97º, Referee Carlos Rivero handed out six misconduct yellow cards for a variety of infractions, three to each team.

After the game FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja said, “Our players played well. They scored three goals, but they could have scored a couple more and we need a lot of efficiency going forward. Now we are the team with the most goals, and I have to be proud of that. “

FC Dallas plays again at 8PM on Tuesday, August 12 against the Philadelphia Union in a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Semifinal Match at Toyota Stadium.
