FC Dallas add Brent Erwin as assistant coach

FC Dallas have made an addition to their coaching staff with Brent Erwin joining the club as an assistant coach, the club announced on Tuesday.

Erwin has a connection with head coach Schellas Hyndman already, having coached under him at Southern Methodist for five years.

“I am excited to once again coach alongside Schellas,” said Erwin, in an FC Dallas press release, “Having worked together previously, I expect our transition period will be very minimal.

Hyndman was also looking forward to the reunion, and praised Erwin’s attitude, “He has a tremendous work ethic, I am sure he will be a great asset to FC Dallas on and off the field.”

Erwin does hold a USSF A License and joins from SMU where he was the assistant following a five year stint as the head coach of the Women’s team. Before his time at SMU Erwin served as the head coach at the University of Central Florida from 2005 to 2007.

His playing career was limited to college, after spending his Freshman year at Richardson College in 1995 he transferred to Texas Christian University where he started for three years, graduating in 1997.

Despite his lack of professional playing experience this is not Erwin’s first time at Dallas’ MLS club, having trained with Dallas Burn, under Dave Dir for two seasons.
