The FBI continues to search for the body of Sherry Arnold in northeastern Montana and the northwestern portion of North Dakota, where a dead man’s body was found recently. But in Georgia this week, the law enforcement agency has not only gotten their alleged kidnappers, they’ve gotten back the kidnap victims as well.
On Jan. 26, 2012, WSAV reported that the alleged kidnappers in the Georgia case have been denied bond. According to the Atlanta division of the FBI, three men in their 30s were arrested and bound over for trial in the two kidnapping incidents in which ransom was the motive.
All three men are from Pembroke, GA and have undergone their initial court appearances, but now await detention hearings for the crimes that occurred on Dec. 1, 2011 and Jan. 12, 2012.
The defendants in the case are 35-year-old Gary Lenion McDonald, 38-year-old Antonio Lamont Murray, and 32-year-old Cecil Dewitt Nelson. Their alleged kidnap victims include one man on Dec. 1 and a husband and wife on Jan. 12.
The Ransom demand in the Dec. 1 crime was $19,000 and the ransom in the husband and wife abduction on Jan. 12 of this year was at least $250,000. The alleged kidnappers abducted and held at gunpoint the first victim until his ransom was paid, following a similar procedure for the husband and wife abduction that followed more than a month later.
In that case, the wife was released by her captors in order to secure the ransom funds, according to the FBI.
While Georgia’s FBI SAC (Special Agent in Charge) extolled the successful arrest of the defendants in the case, and the unity of Georgia’s law enforcement community in the effort, FBI SAC Brian D. Lamkin also said
“This matter remains pending and the FBI and its law enforcement partners asks that anyone with information regarding this matter contact Savannah CrimeStoppers or their nearest law enforcement agency.”
The Savannah CrimeStoppers tip line number is (912) 234-2020 for anyone having any information that would aid law enforcement or prosecutors in the Georgia kidnapping case.
