As CNN was tweeting that Osama Bin Laden was dead, the FBI was still going about their business with Mission Afghanistan. Now, in the wake of responses from the readers of a website that supports Al Qaeda known as Ana Muslim, some supporters are expressing disbelief while others claim it rejuvenates them for more jihad, according to ABC News.
The Ana Muslim (I am Muslim) website can be expected to carry the disbelievers and skeptics of Osama Bin Laden's death; they've heard that line before. But it is not those that western culture should be concerned about.
It is the believing Muslim readers of the website forum that are expressing what actual Al Qaeda members can be expected to say themselves: More jihad is on the way.
To that end, the FBI had already begun Mission Afghanistan, a biometrics program geared to separate the good guys from the bad guys on the war on terror in Afganistan, where Osama Bin Laden supporters have made strong appearances.
Iris scans, fingerprints and facial images of all Afghan national security force members are being collected by the FBI and maintained in a database system on par with the NCIC, National Crime Information Center database for law enforcement in America.
Taliban and insurgent criminals now have a rougher time infiltrating the Afghanistan Army and police units in the country, and the FBI has a stockpile of data on potential -- or existing -- Al Qaeda members.
In the aftermath of the death of Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and its supporters can be expected to seek retribution against the military of the U.S. and its citizens. That is basic terrorism 101. Likewise, Al Qaeda can expect that the American effort that resulted in a raid that prompted the death of their leader -- the man alleged most responsible for 9/11 -- will not stop with his death.
The FBI is gathering more and more information about who is our enemy in Afghanistan with the biometrics project, and the American military can be expected to bring all of the "Most Wanted" criminals to justice in the future. That includes Al Qaeda members as much as the criminals who roam our American cities -- but you won't find that on twitter.
