FBI issues warning to computer users on heels of Osama Bin Laden death

Osama Bin Laden, known as Usama bin Laden by the FBI, might be dead but his potential reach still exists through his supporters, who are now attempting to spread viruses via the Internet communication system. According to the FBI, computer users should tread cautiously if they receive an email that purports to allow them access to Bin Laden death photos or videos of his demise.

Malicious software is par for the course with the Internet, but in light of the FBI's most wanted terrorist being taken down by U.S. Navy SEALS recently, computer users should expect more potential virus attack attempts to be made.

The FBI says that even if you know the user sending the alleged photos or video, you should think twice about opening the link, as that individual's computer could have been infected by the virus, which gains control of the users contact information, creating a domino affect.

President Obama has already said photos of Osama Bin Laden at the time of death will not be made public, hence, any such emails to the contrary should be a red flag to Internet savvy individuals.

If you receive any suspicious emails about Osama bin Laden death photos contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The IC3 website address is www.ic3.gov

According to the FBI, poor grammar, misspellings and the use of nonstandard English are frequently a part of fraudulent email messages. Some even use FBI-looking logos to add false legitimacy to their emails. But the FBI nevers sends out emails to the public at large, so any receipt of such an email should immediately raise your suspicion and prompt you to contact IC3.
