FBI investigates Freedom Industries site

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has sent a hazardous materials response team to The Elk River chemical spill site in West Virginia. A team of federal prosecutors, investigators and inspectors has come to the site to look into the chemical spill that contaminated much of the state's water supply earlier this month. Currently, the visit is just investigating how the leak may have occurred, and physical evidence is not yet being collected from the site. However, investigators are taking pictures and collecting video evidence. Nearly 10,000 gallons of crude MCHM leaked from tanks into the state's ground and waterways earlier this month. The leak raised health concerns as the chemical contaminated water supplies and forced residents to curtail bathing and drinking until fresh water could be shipped in from out of state.
