While millions were watching Sunday’s Super Bowl around the nation, many kidnapped kids were being forced into prostitution according to the FBI reported the Seattle PI. Sex trafficking has appeared to go hand in hand with the build up to the Super Bowl and with it prostitution in and around the New York City area.

The FBI has been prepared for this growing illegal practice and for the past two weeks the agency took part in an intense investigation to ferret out sex trafficking operators.

On Tuesday, a raid by the federal law enforcement agency rescued children as young as 13 to 17 years old who had been forced to work as prostitutes in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, according to the Seattle PI. Families had reported many of the teens missing and the investigation found sixteen juveniles who were engaged in forced prostitution.

In addition to the young teens who were abducted and made to perform sexual acts during the lead up to the Super Bowl, there were an additional 50 women who were also rescued during the raid by federal and local law enforcement officials.

An essential part of the investigation lay in the concentrated coordination and cooperation “between the New Jersey Attorney General’s office, 50 law enforcement agencies and the task force involving hospitality workers and airport employees and many others, suggests the Seattle PI.

Fortunately for a 15-year-old from Florida, her mother was arrested for allegedly trying to peddle the daughter off as a prostitute during the Super Bowl. Sex trafficking tasks forces are now being developed or are operational in many states across the nation to begin to tackle this insidious crime against young kids.
