FBI and Osama Bin Laden: The history, The future

Osama Bin Laden is known by many aliases according to the FBI: Usama Bin Laden, Usama Bin Muhammad Bin Laden, as well as Shaykh Usama Bin Laden, the Prince, the Emir, the Director, and two more, Abu Abdallah and Mujahid Shaykh. But on Sunday night, May 1, 2011, CNN reported that Osama Bin Laden was dead and that President Obama would be addressing the nation regarding that announcement soon.

The Saudi Arabia born terrorist born in 1957 has alluded the United States for years following terrorist attacks that included Sept. 11th. Credit for the atrocities was claimed by Al-Qaeda, which Osama purportedly leads. The organization, also known as "The Base" per the FBI, has sought to hide its leader, touting that he was alive as American military sought to locate him.

But the manhunt for one of the most wanted men by the Federal Bureau of Investigation may now be at an end if the alleged death of Osama Bin Laden turns out to be accurate. Congressional and administration officials are telling CNN that Osama Bin Laden was killed in Afghanistan, according to a CNN breaking news report.

Afghanistan has played an important role in the fight against terrorism, including terrorism perpetrated allegedly by Osama Bin Laden in years past. It would not be odd that the man allegedly responsible for the training of terrorists in Afghanistan was eventually found in the caves there or elsewhere in the country.

But according to CNN, officials in the United States government have told them that Osama Bin Laden was actually in a mansion near Islamabad, instead, when he was killed by U.S. forces.

The FBI cites the bombing on August 7, 1998 as the first terroristic attack in which they sought Osama Bin Laden. The attacks orchestrated were against U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya as well as Tanzania and Dar es Salaam. More than 200 people died in these attacks.

The terroristic attacks on the World Trade Center coupled with the embassy attacks has made Osama Bin Laden the most wanted terrorist in America. His death would bring closure to many families in the country who have suffered loss due to his alleged actions and directions. It could also impact the war on terrorism. President Obama may be poised to end his first term in office with a major coup politically, if he can announce that America's number one enemy Osama Bin Laden is dead.
