Sevilla defender was celebrating in Turin after his squad's triumph in the Europa League this past Wednesday. For him it was a great way to cap off his year with the Nervionenses. Yet despite all of the success he had at the club level there is still some blood in the eye left after he was snub from Alejandro Sabella's 30-man list for the World Cup.

In an interview with Terra, the player that came out of Ferro Carril Oeste said that Sabella left him off the list due to "other things" and not his form.

"The truth is that it was something I saw coming. (Sabella) never call me after three years as national team coach," snapped an unhappy Fazio. "I'm an happy with the work I have done. I know that I have done things well and I know I have the form to be there."

Fazio received callups a couple of callups from Sergio Batista and was part of the Olympic team that won the gold medal in Beijing back in 2008 as well as the 2007 U-20 side that won the world title in Canada. Since Sabella took over for Argentina after the 2011 Copa América, Fazio was long forgotten and never was called up by the former Estudiantes coach.

Since arriving in Sevilla, Fazio is the captain of the team and alongside Nicolás Pareja have paired up to become one of the best central defensive tandems in Spanish football.

Neither of those players were even mentioned by Sabella in a qualifying phase that saw the Albiceleste qualify for the World Cup once again, this time ending up in first place in the CONMEBOL region despite the defensive shortcomings they have endured during the past five years.
