Fawn + Raven share Spring-2013 fashion trends

Fawn + Raven, one of Austin's chic boutiques on the cutting edge of fashion, is getting ready for the Spring 2013 season in Austin. Owner, Kim Sierra gives us glimpses of what we have to look forward to when updating our wardrobe mix. While certain fashion favorites will still be styling the streets of Austin, new silhouettes are on the horizon.

Fawn + Raven's advocates are women in the 35-45 age range. Sierra says, "Ladies who are interested in the latest trends but are mindful of how to make those trends age appropriate-these women make up the majority of my client base."

She continues on the latest happenings in the fashion world. "Right now, people are focusing on getting the last good deals on winter clothing. Most are not quite ready to embrace the pre Spring/resort that is starting to arrive, especially with the colder weather recently." Yet there are always those customers that are looking ahead to the 2013 Spring fashion front. Sierra explains, " Most women I have spoken to are excited about the colors for Spring;the beautiful greens, the floral prints, and the new pants that are showing up, especially the ankle length straight legged pants in COLOR!"

Fawn + Raven focused on a lot of really feminine looks for this upcoming season because this is what is being highlighted on the runways."We bought beautiful maxi's in fresh prints, dresses with interesting cutouts, and a few new Tshirt and loungewear lines made of amazing cottons. We also focused on lots and lots of fun color- a continuation of neon, oranges and greens."

In terms of silhouettes, "we saw hemlines drop on skirts and dresses to just below the knee and tea length. Regionally, the maxi is always a popular choice. We saw full short skirts which will probably work best in cocktail dresses for most women. Overall, short dresses are longer this season."

The hottest trend in fashion are feminine touches that include lace and florals. The silhouettes are slightly more structured than in the past. "Think straight legs and well cut blazers or pantsuits." In terms of accessories, Sierra says that statement jewelry is still going strong. "Big necklaces with a pop of color is the way to go."

Looking forward to Spring, Sierra concludes, " I think women will embrace the feminine qualities that so many designers are showing. Pretty dresses and feminine details with lace and dainty collars will be a refreshing look. In Austin, the dress that you can throw on and run around in and breathes in the heat, is always a sure thing."
