Favorite Warren Buffett quotes

Quotes  -  Earlier this year, Warren Buffett was given the Medal of Freedom by Pres. Barack Obama for good reason.  Mr. Buffett's style of value investing is a great model for millions of investors, which aims to identify underlying value in companies and to hold on to ownership stake over the long-haul.  The stock market is not viewed as a medium for minute-by-minute trading or some vehicle for get-rich-quick schemes that many traders and hedge funds subscribe to.  Warren shows us common sense through the eyeglass of finance.

I do, however, disagree with his view that millionaires should face tax increases.  If anything, Americans are way overtaxed and the federal government spends way too much.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction.

Let blockheads read what blockheads wrote.

Of the billionaires I have known, money just brings out the basic traits in them. If they were jerks before they had money, they are simply jerks with a billion dollars.

Only buy something that you'd be perfectly happy to hold if the market shut down for 10 years.

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing.

Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.

And here is my favorite quote:

Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.
