The Krewe of Orpheus is labeled the star-studded Carnival club that parades the night before Mardi Gras in the party town. Though Domino will not be riding in the parade on March 3, 2014, Antoine Domino III – Fats Domino’s oldest son – is scheduled to be on a float with a piano and speakers, performing his famous father’s greatest hits. His hits include “Walking to New Orleans,” “Blue Monday,” “The Fat Man,” and – of course – “Blueberry Hill.”

Additionally, Domino’s other family members are scheduled to be on the float, throwing Fats Domino memorabilia to the crowd.

On Friday, Domino – whose real name is Antoine Domino Jr. - received the medallion proclaiming him the “honorary grand marshal.” During the presentation he said he was honored – but also said there was “no way” he was going to ride on a float. As far as his son filling in for him on the float, he said, “He should be all right.”

Mardi Gras is on March 4, 2014.
