George Leutz is no longer playing his game of Q*bert.
The classic arcade contender had once again been taking aim at the Q*bert world record at Richie Knucklez Arcade in Flemington, NJ, a score he has aimed at several times throughout 2011. This time, Leutz slept in the arcade and woke up just after midnight on Thursday to begin his quest to topple the longtime world record of 33 million points.
As with previous attempts, Leutz had the support of gaming fans from around the world. Original Q*bert programmer Warren Davis called to offer his support to George during his gameplay. News 12 New Jersey came out on Thursday to do a story on the attempt and major gaming entertainment site Kotaku noted the run as well. Several websites simulcast the broadcast of his run.
Leutz fell victim to fatigue early this morning (December 31) and lost all his remaining lives. His final score was 26,721,915 points in 57 hours and 40 minutes of play on a single coin.
