Father who beat girls for twerking video arrested, charged with child abuse

Gregory B. Horn, the Dayton Ohio father who recently became famous when a video of him beating his daughters with a video cord was posted on WorldStarHiphop and then went viral, has been arrested and charged with child abuse. ABC22 News reports that Horn was arrested this morning at his home on Fotip Lane in Dayton.

Although comments posted in early news reports and along with the video blamed the incident on Horn's daughters making and uploading a "twerk" video to YouTube or Facebook, more recent accounts report that both Horn and his daughters reporting the beating was a punishment for sneaking out of the house instead. Twerking is a fad dance crazy that involves shaking one's butt and hips and exaggerated grinding in a sexual manner. Many people are posting twerking videos on YouTube and other social media sites, with Miley Cyrus even getting in on the action and posting a twerking video of her own.

The girls were visiting their father, who they do not live with, and the incident was reported to the police after they returned home and their mother noticed the welts and bruising on their thighs. One police reports mentions that the girl still had visible welts and open wounds in her thigh area from being struck with the video cord by her father.

While many parents defended or even praised his actions, other pointed out that his reaction was extreme and abusive. This was not Greg Horn's first brush with the law, or his first arrest for not keeping his violent temper in check. He was on parole following a prison sentence for a 2009 conviction of felony assault, and was arrested for a parole violation in late December of last year.

Ironically, his arrest comes in the first week of Child Abuse Awareness Month.
