Football often brings family members together, but this past weekend, it caused one to fall apart. The Indystar reported on Oct. 14, 2013, that a fight over when to quit watching football ended with a father fatally shooting his teenage son in Morgan County, Indiana.
49-year-old David Carrender was arrested on a preliminary murder charge after 19-year-old Wyatt Carrender was shot to death outside of the family's home.
Robert Donwey, Morgan County Sheriff, said the two Carrenders were watching football games at a local restaurant or bar when they started arguing over when to go home. It appears as if David Carrender wanted to stay and watch more football, but his son wanted to go home.
Upon returning home, Downey said that the father went and got his handgun and shot his son six times. The girlfriends of the father and son were there when the shooting happened.
It is thought that David Carrender had been drinking earlier in the day.
Formal charges were expected to be filed against David Carrender on Tuesday, for the fatal shooting of his teenage son.
