Exercise and craft beer go hand- in- hand. Well, okay, not really but they both have their benefits and few things beat the delicious refreshment of a cold draft beer following some heart- thumping, pulse- raising physical activity. Katy’s No Label Brewing has an event this weekend that does, indeed, bring together beer drinking and exercising and all are invited. Here are the facts:

Event: No Label Brewing 5K

Location: No Label Brewing, 5352-A 1st Street, Katy, TX

Date and Time: Saturday, June 14, 2014 starting at 8:30 a.m.

No Label Brewing 1st Street 5K is a 5 kilometer run through the streets of Katy. Starting and ending at the No Label Brewery, the 5K run is open to anyone who is able to complete the course, regardless of speed/time.

Once completed, runners are invited to gather inside the brewery for some post- exercise beer. Each of the runners will receive a No Label glass which can be used for four fills of your No Label beer of choice. In addition, runners will all receive a t-shirt plus the chance to win a hand- made award. Food will be available, but is not included in the entry fee.

Who, exactly, will receive one of the handmade awards? Well, one award will go to the top overall male runner, top overall female runner, and the top overall master (someone age 40 and older). The remaining awards will go to the top three finishers in the following age groups: 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and up.

Those who are not running but wish to take part in the fun can start their drinking early. Beer and glassware can be purchased directly from No Label in the morning, at the brewery. Keep in mind that the event officially ends at 11 a.m. This means that beer tokens must be used by that time. They cannot be used for the weekly Saturday tasting, which begins at 12 p.m. Separate $8 admission has to be paid for the weekly Saturday event.

Exercise and craft beer may not seem like typical bedfellows but if you think about it, they are complimentary in more ways than one. By attending the No Label Brewing 5K, you can partake in valuable exercise then replace those important calories with fresh, cold beer just moments after crossing the finish line. Follow the above link, register online, and start your Father’s Day weekend right at No Label Brewing.
