Father's Day craft: Cookie love

A giant cookie is a great Father's Day present from little, or big, hands.

Father's day is just around the corner, this Sunday, June 20 th, to be precise. If your father or that special man in your life has a sweet tooth, what better way to show him you love him than a giant cookie? The following recipe is modified slightly from the one you'll find on the back of most packages of chocolate chips. You can try this one, or your own.

Chocolate chip cookies:
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2  tsp salt
1 cup butter (come on, splurge and use butter. It makes the cookies so much better.)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
1 package of maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal

Chocolate chip cookies:

Stir together the sugar, vanilla eggs and butter. Add the flower, soda, salt. Mix well.

Grease a pizza pan with non-stick spray.

Let the kids spread the cookie dough (as evenly as possible) along the pizza pan.

Bake at 375 for 12 - 18 minutes or until the cookie is golden brown.

Let the cookie cool complete and then decorate with chocolate or vanilla frosting. Don't forget to write, or let your kids write, a nice message for dad on the middle of the cookie, or decorate it with a sunny face, such as the one in the picture.

~Short cut: Buy a package of cookie dough from your local grocery store instead of making the cookies from scratch.

If you  try this recipe, I'd love to know how it turned out. Send a picture, if you like, with your permission, and I'll post it!
