Father hires 'in-game hit men' to hinder son's video game playing

A father in China was so fed up with his son’s incessant hours spent playing video games that he hired “hit men” in the game to kill his son’s avatar over and over again.

The man identified only as “Mr. Feng” was hoping that if his son got frustrated enough by the constant deaths of his avatar that he’d find something else to do. The man’s son, referred to as “Xiao Feng” by China’s Sanqin Daily, is 23 years-old and can’t pull himself away from the games enough to find a job.

According to “Mr. Feng” his son was working for a software development company but after only three months he quit his job. The son said he quit because he was “unhappy with the work.”

The father hired “online assassins”, other players whose avatars were more accomplished and stronger than his son’s avatar. Every time his son logged on to the game, his “assassins” were supposed to kill his son’s avatar, over and over.

“Xiao Feng” spoke with the Guangzhou Daily about the assassins. He told them that he was “initially shocked”.

He didn’t like it that his character keep getting killed. However it began to make him suspicious.

“There was never any bad blood or animosity between me and the master game players who were killing me, so I knew there was something strange going on.” “Xiao Feng” says he began asking around until he figured out what his father doing.

“Xiao Feng” confronted his father with the information and informed him that was only trying to find a job that he would truly enjoy.
