An 18-year-old man, Raymond Frolander, was beaten severely and to the point of unconsciouslness by an enraged Florida father who just happened to walk in on the babysitter while he was allegedly raping the man's 11-year-old son. According to Daytona Beach Police, Frolander was subsequently arrested for sexual battery.
CBS News reported July 19 that police arrived shortly after the father -- who thus far remains unidentified -- called 911 at 1 a.m. to have local law enforcement come and pick up his babysitter. He told the dispatcher, "He is nice and knocked out on the floor for you. I drug him out to the living room."
The father, who told the 911 dispatcher that he had trusted Frolander and had left him alone with his son before, said he had walked in and caught the 18-year-old babysitter in the act of sexually abusing his son. He told investigators the same thing, according to WKMG-TV in Orlando.
According to CNN, the father told the dispatcher that Frolander was close to the family and in the apartment while he was out. He said he knew something was amiss by the look on the teen's face when he returned to the apartment, but then Frolander's pants fell to his ankles, and he saw exposed genitals "and nothing else needed to be said."
He told the dispatcher that the teen was still breathing "and I loved him up until 15 minutes ago."
Asked if there were weapons involved, the man said "my foot and my fists."
When Daytona Beach Police arrived, they discovered a bleeding Raymond Frolander lying motionless on the living room floor. He had knots on his head, according to the Associated Press (via Yahoo News).
A mugshot of Frolander reveals a much bruised and swollen young man, one eye nearly closed with swelling, his lips misshapen. Said mugshot has reportedly gone viral.
CNN reported that the charging affidavit reflects a statement from the 11-year-old who said that Frolander had performed oral sex on him and had instructed him to fondle his genitals. The young boy also stated that he had been abused for a few years by Frolander (CBS News reported that the sexual abuse had been ongoing since the boy was eight years old). In the same document, Frolander apparently told police, "I'm guilty."
The father has not been charged.
When CNN affiliate CFN 13 asked Daytona Beach Police Chief Michael Chitwood whether or not he had any issue with the father's reaction, he replied, "Not as a police chief and not as a father."
