The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a pedestrian on I-4 in Volusia County Saturday morning. FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes says the pedestrian had been walking west on I-4, “...in the outside eastbound lane.” The pedestrian was struck by a Mack truck at around 6:10 Saturday morning at the 114 mile marker, and then also hit by a pickup truck, according to troopers. Neither the driver of the Mack truck, a 47-year old man from Leesburg, nor the 67-year old pickup driver from Deltona, was injured in the accident. Sgt. Montes says a positive identification has not yet been made on the pedestrian, and the case remains under investigation. Eastbound traffic on the interstate was backed up to the mile marker 111 interchange Saturday morning as the FHP conducted the accident investigation.
