Just eight days before WWE rolls in Houston, they roll out the pay per view cameras out for "Battleground" tonight. Several headlining matches are scheduled, including a Fatal Four Way for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Prior to the event, WWE will present their "Kickoff" show. As with every event, there will be a panel of superstars discussing the card and some of the events leading up to "Battleground." Also on "Kickoff" will be a match featuring fighting Funkadactyls, as former best friends Cameron and Naomi will face off in the ring. The two ended their friendship recently and brawled on "Raw," and will now settle their differences prior to the pay per view.

The Intercontinental Championship was vacated on June 24, when it was revealed that then-champion Bad News Barrett was put on the shelf with a shoulder injury. So it was then announced a week later that the title would be up for grabs at "Battleground" in a 20-man Battle Royal. Below are the names entered for the over-the-top-rope match:

  • Cesaro
  • Kofi Kingston
  • The Great Khali
  • Rob Van Dam
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Big E
  • Ryback
  • Curtis Axel
  • Alberto Del Rio
  • Bo Dallas
  • Sheamus
  • Fandango
  • Sin Cara
  • Zack Ryder
  • The Miz
  • Diego
  • R-Truth
  • Xavier Woods
  • Heath Slater
  • Titus O'Neil

Barrett posted on his Twitter page last week that he would be in attendance to present the title to the winner of the match, and made a rather bold prediction on who he thought would come away with the victory.

I'll be heading to #WWEBattleground to present the new IC Champ with his title. My money's on @HeathSlaterOMRB. #BringBackTheCorre

In what has been an entertaining series of matches lately, Jimmy and Jey Uso will put the WWE Tag Team Titles on the line against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family. The twist here is that this will be a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Both teams have scored huge wins over each other in recent months, and the Wyatt boys have been granted one more shot at the belts. Will the Usos hold onto their titles, or will the Wyatts collect their first taste of WWE gold?

The night after WrestleMania XXX, AJ Lee lost her Divas Title to a newcomer named Paige. AJ disappeared following the loss, and reappeared on June 30 during "Raw" and defeated Paige to recapture the title. Tonight, the two will step into the ring once again, only this time fully aware of who they are competing against. Can AJ fully reclaim her spot as the most dominant Diva in recent memory, or can Paige pull off another upset and become a two-time champion?

In recent weeks, Jack Swagger has gone from arrogant patriot to having the full support of the WWE Universe. And it comes at the expense of the Russian nightmare known as Rusev. Since his debut several months back, Rusev and and his handler, Lana, have verbally berated the United States all while heavily praising their native Russia and Vladimir Putin. This has caught the attention of the "All American American" and Zeb Coulter, who is also a proud military veteran. Swagger will look to pin a huge defeat on the shoulders of Rusev, as well as avoid getting trapped in the clutches of The Accolade.

At "Battleground," Chris Jericho gets his first big test since his return a couple of weeks ago. He will be challenged by one of the most bizarre superstars in recent memory, Bray Wyatt. During Jericho's return, the entire Wyatt Family made their presence felt by attacking the former World Champion. Bray has racked up some very impressive victories as of late, including big wins over John Cena. But Jericho has virtually seen everything and may even have a few tricks up his sleeve come belltime.

The big story of the summer has been the untimely implosion of The Shield. Former friends Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have been feuding every since Rollins shocked the world by turning on Ambrose and Roman Reigns in early June. It was a monumental betrayal, as The Shield was as collective and solid as ever in their feud against Triple H and The Authority. Since then, Rollins has gone onto win the Money In The Bank briefcase. But Ambrose has been at every corner, stopping him from cashing in that briefcase on at least two occasions. At "Battleground," Rollins looks to finally eliminate Ambrose, but his former ally has a world of retribution in mind and will no doubt unleash it all tonight.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line tonight, as reigning champion John Cena defends against Kane, Randy Orton, and heavy favorite Roman Reigns in a Fatal Four Way match. Cena has had his hands full with The Authority as of late, but now has another issue to deal with. He and Reigns have a mutual respect, but Reigns has made his intentions crystal clear that there are no friends when it comes to that title. Cena has zero chance of having an ally in this match, and could be in for a very long night if he intends on holding on to the champinship.

All of this goes down tonight on the WWE Network and on pay per view. The kickoff show begins at 6:30 P.M. Central on the Network and on their social media networks, and the event itself is set to begin at 7:00 P.M. The road to SummerSlam starts taking shape tonight with WWE "Battleground."
