Fat Tuesday will be here on Tuesday, Mar 4, 2014. Fat Tuesday is the last day of feasting before Lent begins, and the 2nd Street Market is here to help you with your Fat Tuesday feasting! Get down to the market tomorrow and take advantage of all the wonderful foods – ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat and ‘from-scratch’ items are in abundance.
Check out the gorgeous Mardi Gras King cake in the photo! Azra’s Desserts and Mediterranean Cuisine is responsible for that delicious beauty; they have the most amazing cream puffs and an extensive variety of unusual, tasty cookies as well. If you want to take home some of their freshly-made cookie dough, ginger snaps, snicker doodles, or chocolate chip cookies can be baked in your kitchen to impress your guests. Azra’s has fresh and frozen items including colori dolma, Greek mezze, moussaka and cabbage rolls, fresh soups and salads, frozen breakfast foods and side dishes. Azra’s meals come in portions for one person, two people, or your entire family. All of Azra’s ‘to go’ items are labeled with the ingredients, preparation instructions and a photo of the product.
Cheeky Meat Pies are always delicious and can be purchased for a delicious hot snack on the go or you can take frozen pies home to pop in the oven for 15 minutes or so. Golden brown, flaky crusts are filled with Hearty Tandoori Chicken, Gandalf Vegetarian, beef-based or breakfast-type fillings,
Kolb’s can fix you up with some delicious cabbage rolls to go, All Souped Up has delicious gumbo to take the chill off of a cold winter day, and Baan Thai Noi has wonderful entrees, delicious soups (including Tom Yum soup), and fresh spring rolls and summer rolls among many other items on their menu. Need something gluten-free? Arepas & Co has many dishes to choose from, including empanadas, patacones, Tres Leches cake and more.
Get some gourmet pet treats from Animal Snackers to keep the dogs and cats (and rabbits!) happy and you’re all set for a Fat Tuesday feast.
See all of the 2nd Street Market vendors here, and shop the market Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
