Fastkill's Toshio Komori on the True Thrash Fest and new album Pt 1

Interview of Fastkill Singer Toshio Komori By Japan Nick Perkel (Recorded February 12th 2012) Pt 1 of 3

I noticed you are playing the True Thrash Fest Concert in Osaka this year ? What kinds of special things you got planned for your live show?

I’m looking forward to playing there next week. The True Thrash Fest is organized by Miki of Rock Stakk Records and the members of Riverge. We have played there every year since their first show in 2009 it’s a great honor and a challenge for us and we respect them. Most of the bands that tour in Japan are playing mainly in Tokyo so their fans must go to Tokyo to see them but The True Thrash Fest is held only in Osaka for two days. Not in Tokyo. It is the organizer’s policy to promote the metal scene in Osaka. They invite legendary thrash metal bands which Japanese major promoters can’t invite every year. So we can see very rare shows like Hirax, Violater, Assassin, Warpath, Fueled by Fire, and At War. Last year, Razor came to Japan .Who could have ever predicted to see the show of legendary god of thrash metal band Razor here in Japan? Wow, It’s great because they are continuing the festival even now. This year Sacrifice from Canada, and Witchburner from Germany, will play in Osaka, Japan. It’s a miracle. This festival is the most important thrash metal show in the world!

If you want to see the true thrash metal come to Osaka, Japan and speaking of Fastkill’s show we will play the set focused on our latest album Bestial Thrashing Bulldozer with full force just as usual.

What songs do you think you will be playing from your older albums like Infernal Thrashing Holocaust and Bestial Thrashing Bulldozer?

Kill For Pleasure, Bloodbath but we need enough time for all the songs we play.

How did you get your song S.D.T.D. featured on the Playstation Vita Game Army Corps of Hell?`

Mr. Yokoyama from the Japanese metal band United approached our old label World Chaos Productions to see if he could use our song. I heard he was the Editorial Supervisor of that game. I don’t know if the sounds of S.D.T.D. fits with that game, but I always welcome the use of our music for something.

What was it like transitioning from your old album Nuclear Thrashing Attack to Bestial Thrashing Bulldozer?

After releasing Nuclear Thrashing Attack we had a sense of direction about artwork for our next album. We have a character like Eddie of Iron Maiden. He appears with his upper body on our first and second albums. Our guitarist Jiro had an idea about the lowerpart of his body and it was a caterpillar and something about the album something Thrashing Bulldozer. That was a good idea, so we asked a cover artist to design it. The recording for our new album just took 4 days in March last year. It was very hard for me because I had to learn my friend’s band King’s Evil’s lyrics to support their tour along with writing Fastkill’s lyrics at that time. I had finished them halfway. We had a problem after the recording. We were supposed to release it from World Chaos Productions by the end of June 2011, but we couldn’t due to various reasons. So we search for a new label. Now we released it in Japan on BTH Records (Bang the Head Records), and will announce soon about releasing it in North/South America, and Europe. You know the transition wasn’t hard on our sound. We never change our music style ‘cuz we are a real thrash metal band. That’s all I have to say

Pt 2 contains discussion about the writing of Bestial Thrashing Bulldozers, splits with Abigail, words on prestigous concerts like appearing with Destruction, and performing at the KL Metal Camp in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
