A group of women form the Jersey Shore have been burning up the track recently. On March 15, 2014 the group took first place at the 2014 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships 4x800 meter relay competing against teams from all across the country.
The team running for Runner’s High which has outlets in Metuchen, Jersey City and Freehold is comprised of Dianne DeOliveira of Brick, Christie Patla of Aberdeen, Christy DeFillipis of Tinton Falls and Karen Charles of Wall.
In the championship race in Boston, Karen Charles led off for the team, followed by Diane DeOliviera, then Christy Patella and the anchor was Christy DeFillipis. The team finished with a combined time of 10:54.93. Complete results will be posted on the event web site.
For Dianne it was a relief to relax, take a hot bath and get ready to race the next day where she was the top master’s finisher in the individual 800 meter race with a time of 2:23.85.
The women will be competing as a team and individually at many local upcoming events.
