A fast moving parade of weak weather systems will create somewhat of an unsettled weekend across the Capital Region. Although it will not be precipitating a great majority of the time, it will be partly to mostly cloudy, breezy, and cool. Temperatures are expected to be a good 5 to 10 degrees below normal.
The first weather system was moving through the area early this morning, bringing some light shower activity (some of this was in the form of wet snow over the higher elevations) to the area. The system will be well south and east of the region by this afternoon, and winds will have shifted back to the west and northwest, triggering the lake effect mechanism to kick back in off of lake Ontario. Although the precipitation resulting from the lake effect looks to remain well north and west of the region, the resultant cloud cover may work its way in.
High pressure builds into the region overnight tonight, and lasts through the day tomorrow, before another fast moving system sweeps eastward from the center of the nation and brings a chance of showers later on Saturday, and early Sunday before departing and bringing the region nearly identical conditions to what is forecast to be experienced behind the current system we are dealing with.
Temperatures are expected to slowly begin an upward trend toward seasonal averages through the early portions of the work week. A stronger system looks to impact the region sometime during the middle to later portions of next week. This may cause above normal temperatures to occur, but will also bring a chance for rain showers into the picture once again.
