On November 30, 2013 Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker passed away at age 40 in Valencia, CA. Family and friends are devastated by the loss, he leaves behind a 15 year old daughter and 23 year old girlfriend.
Earlier in the day Walker co-hosted a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide, an organization helping victims in the Philippines effected by the Typhoon. The event came to a close and everyone returned their cars to the parking lot, but Paul Walker and Roger Rodas decided to take the red Porsche for a test drive.
A few moments later the car went up in flames claiming the lives of both men. Rodas was the driver at the time of the accident. The crash was so horrific, the Coroner stated it would take 2-3 days to confirm the identification of the unrecognizable bodies. It took nearly an hour to remove the lifeless victims from the fiery blaze.
Alcohol has also been ruled out as a cause of the crash. Some wonder about the condition of the vehicle, a witness claims to have heard an explosion before the car collided into the light pole. This specific Porsche is known to be difficult to control even by the best of drivers. Others question the actor's need for speed; Rodas and Walker were seen pulling out the parking lot slowly and there was a highway patrolman on the scene, so it is unlikely that the two were speeding. At this time no evidence of another vehicle has been found in the case of racing, but reports state speed is most likely the factor.
The Fast and the Furious cast members are also deeply saddened by the news; Paul Walker was in the process of filming the Fast & Furious 7, schedule to be in theaters July of 2014. The production crew is faced with the hard decision of how to proceed with the conclusion of the movie. Taping is delayed, but will go on.
