"The Fast And The Furious" Synopsis/Plot

The movie has themes of illegal street racing, Japanese cars, car theft, high-speed chases and car explosions.

According to Business Insider, the true story on which "Fast And Furious" is based, first appeared in a Vibe magazine article written by Ken Li. The title of the article was "Racer X," which told the story of Dominican street racer Rafael Estevez, a man from Washington Heights, NY.

"The Fast and The Furious" movie director Rob Cohen became fascinated with the story when he read the article and later witnessed a late-night street racing event in Los Angeles.
