Fast and ‘Flurrious’ hits Delaware Park on January 26, 2013

Delaware Park (84 Parkside Avenue) celebrates the Flurrious Winter Festival on January 26, 2013. The day promises to be filled with family fun. The free event is part of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy’s third annual festival that will include snow tennis, Quidditch tournament, kickball, hockey expo or enjoy a sleigh ride through the park.

Children and those at heart will delight in building igloos, a snowman building contest and then warming up at the Parkside Lodge with a cup of warm hot chocolate in the chalet setting. For those embracing the cold, a bicycle ride, running race, Kan-Jam, outdoor grilling, ice beer will be chilling and participants can duck in the warming tent where live music will take the winter chill out of the celebration.

The winter festivities are sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield, The Buffalo News, Lawley Insurance, National Grid, WBEN Radio, Wegmans and Zee’s Property Services. The party commences at 10 am (some events begin at 9 am so check the website for more information) and last until 8 pm.

This weekend bundle up and embrace the winter fun.
