As more details emerge from the events leading up to the suicide death of fashionista Ashley Riggitano, her devasted boyfriend, aspiring race car driver Drew Heissenbuttel spoke exclusively to RadarOnline about their relationship and his hearbreak, according to a Feb. 8 RadarOnline.com report.
As previously reported, 22-year-old Riggitano, a talented budding designer, jumped to her death from the George Washington Bridge on Feb. 6 according to a New York Post report. Sources say Riggitano was being bullied by her fashion friends. She reportedly left behind a purse containing a “suicide diary” that included handwritten notes describing her pain and a list with the names of five girls she did not want to attend her funeral.
Speaking with RadarOnline, Heissenbuttel said the couple was in love. “Ashley was a gorgeous girl and we had a great relationship,” he said. “We were on and off for some time but were together again at the time she passed away. She loved me and I loved her back.”
While he did not comment on the alleged online feud between his late girlfriend and another woman, he said he knew about it. “I knew something was going on with the Facebook feud but I can’t comment on that,” says Heissenbuttel. “I need to respect Ashley’s family right now.”
Prior to her suicide, Riggitano was reportedly involved in an online fight with a woman named Alison Tinari, over Tinari’s friendship with Riggitano’s boyfriend. Heissenbuttel acknowledged that he knew Tanari, but declined to discuss the feud, only saying, “I can clarify one thing, I am NOT the guy everyone is saying harassed Ashley, I was the guy that she loved and that loved her.”
“I’m still trying to figure out why this happened and to piece it all together,” he continued. “I am very upset, I’m absolutely devastated. I just don’t know why she did it,” he said.
“On the day of her death, the last thing she said to me was that she loved me. I knew something was wrong though, but I didn’t know what.” Heissenbuttel is planning to honor the memory of his gorgeous late girlfriend during his next race. “I am racing next week and will dedicate it to Ashley,” he shared.
