At the New Yorkers for Children Annual Fall Gala to benefit youth in foster care, co-chairs Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness were the power couple at the event’s red carpet on September 17. With a Prada crisp black suit, white button down, and silver tie, Hugh Jackman looked impeccable. Deborra-Lee Furness was the perfect addition to the stylish couple wearing Donna Karan.
“We love to play a part for a kid that needs help,” said Hugh Jackman regarding their role in the organization. He said that anyone could be drawn to this cause regardless if they have kids of their own or not, since it is such a great cause.
Two other guests managed to impress not only the crowd, but fashion photography legend, Bill Cunningham. Alexandra Lebenthal got Bill Cunningham's attention in a delicate embellished silk-faille Oscar de la Renta pre fall 2013 gown. The other guest to pass the Bill style test was Stacy Engman when she made him smile with joy while he photographed her eccentric Alon Livne black feathery ensemble. Lebenthal said the young Israeli designer was her favorite from New York Fashion Week because of the couture quality in his designs. Livne also designed some of the costumes for the Mrs. Carter tour.
Model Arlenis Sosa looked extra chic in a cherry Zac Posen stretch crepe signature mermaid gown. With a pulled back hairdo and minimal jewelry, the gown was the main focus of the look. Sosa said she adored Posen’s spring/summer 2014 collection both as a model in his show and as a customer. Another of her favorite collections of this fashion week is her compatriot Oscar de La Renta. Sosa didn’t forget to mention that giving back to education and the youth is very important to her, since she comes from a developing country.
Besides looking as flawless as Sosa, in a Gabriela Cadena sequined gown, model Crystal Renn shared the same passion for the evening’s cause. “Anything good that happened in my life happened because I was adopted,” said Crystal Renn.
Black and long sleeved backless gowns seemed to predominate in the rest of the guests, except in a few children present who looked cheerful in black and white stripes, and light colors.
Tinsley Mortimer, Peter Brant, Jr., Hannah Bronfman, Gayle King, Justin Tuck, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Veronica Webb, Lauren Remington Platt, Kevin Liles, Julie Macklowe, Zang Toi were some of the notables we spotted on the red carpet. Additional sponsors included American Express, Armani Exchange, BET Networks, by Kilian, Frédéric Fekkai, Giorgio Armani, KWL Enterprises, Macy's and Bloomingdale's, Oscar de la Renta and Saks Fifth Avenue. Moda Operandi and Tommy Hilfiger dressed the youth in attendance and M·A·C Cosmetics and Frédéric Fekkai provided makeup and hairstyling.
