Today, (Sunday, April 7, 2013), the fashion world is mourning the loss of the legendary icon. She died in Palm Beach surrounded by family according to a spokesperson for the Lilly Pulitzer company. She was 81 years old.
She launched her fashion company in 1959, after designing colorful, printed shifts to wear at her fresh juice stand. Almost instantly her fashions were welcomed and embraced. Today her bright, floral designs are still popular among the preppy set. Her timeless fashions will allow her legacy to live on well into the future.
