Fashion Week is already in full-swing! My first presentation was Bryan Boy for Adrienne Landau at the Mondrian Soho. While battling an annoying cold and stopping by this early morning event, I was under the impression the designer was one of the ‘Housewives’ on television, which was not the case.
The collection was strictly fur in various colors. Each piece was bright and beautiful, so maybe a faux fur line will be in order for the following season.
I also received a last minute invite for ‘Heart Truth’ at Hammerstein Ballroom. This show always manages to bring out the biggest celebrities sporting designer gowns to create awareness regarding heart disease.
This year’s most memorable cat-walkers included: Wendy Williams (talk show host), Kris Jenner and her daughters (The Kardashians: Kylie and Kendall, I believe are the names of the youngest daughters), Toni Braxon (R&B singer) along with countless other famous faces as well as a real-life survivor gracing the runway.
Then it was down to the Soho House in the meatpacking district for ‘Friends of Karen’ charity event for the launch of ‘Do Naturals’.
Do Naturals body wash was given to guests to try at home in the goodie bags. The ‘Just berry’ scent has a yummy like candy fragrance with a light lather and is loaded with natural, eco-friendly ingedients.
The finale’ for the evening took place at Capitale for Wildfox. The Wildfox presentation was clever as well as cute. Models danced down the stairs from the balcony onto platforms while the saxophone played. One of the t-shirts read something about ‘Prohibition’ which still impacts New York today with various strange laws on alcohol that seems kind of old-fashioned. It was truly an innovative and fun show for Wildfox.
The following day, Costello Tagliapietra, Erin Barr and Concept Korea was taking place.
Costello Tagliapietra is always personal favorite. Each and every season, they offer guests the cutest, versatile tote-bag featuring a print from one of the dresses on the models, such a fabulous idea and I am starting my very own Costello Tagliapietra collection of these bags from every season!
Later in the evening, I was double-booked for two shows: Erin Barr and Concept Korea. Erin Barr debuted her collection over at Chelsea Piers and Concept Korea always sets the bar high for the next season. A glow-in-the-dark hat opened the show and it was fun to see something chic as well as quirky coming down the runway. The looks created by Son Jung Wan, I would wear every day, if possible!!
Friends/Freelance photographers from Los Angeles fly in just before the Nemo hit.. We started the day off at Lyn Devon on the Upper East Side.
The Lyn Devon collection featured some menswear inspired looks along with a sort of cute, granny-style twist. Classic floral prints, tailored sweater dresses and over-sized blazers as well as Lyn Devon monogrammed pieces; truly flattering looks for everyone. While at Lyn Devon, we bumped into another journalist and shared a ride to Lincoln Center just as the storm was setting in.
At Lincoln Center, it was a packed house with all sorts of fashionistas in spiky heels braving the elements. Nautica was taking the stage, as we sat in the café for lunch, then went to Rebecca Minkoff.
Models sported sleek, straight hair on the runway. The look was tough-chick glamour with edgy pieces for the gal who isn’t afraid to be herself.
We were confirmed for Parkchoonmoo at 9:00 p.m., but did not want to get stranded at the tents. However, maybe that wouldn’t have been such a bad place to camp-out at after all….It is Fashion Week.
