On Tuesday, August 20, Fashion Week Las Vegas held its second night of fashion shows in the Addison Exhibition Hall of the Palms Casino. Two designers were featured: Haitian-American Hadascha, and Alexander Vinash from Spain.
This fashion week is devoted to emerging designers, most of whom are young. Hadascha is in her mid-twenties, like several of the others. Alexander Vinash, however, is somewhat older; he had other things to do, like winning professional skating championships, in his earlier years. He showed on Tuesday for the second time this week, and will show menswear on Wednesday. In addition to the extravagantly feminine, costume-inspired look of his runway creations, he may become known for the world record in productivity. In all, it's likely he will show nearly 100 different outfits this week.
Hadascha comes by her interest in resort wear naturally, with her connection to a Caribbean island. But she has supplemented that interest with both degrees from both American and French universities.
America's Next Top Model, cycle 14 winner Krista White is acting as a judge for the modeling competition, and if nothing else, showing that she looks a lot prettier in her post-ANTM life than she did on the television show. On Monday before the first fashion show she was asked if she would be walking the runway, and she responded, “No, nobody has asked me.” That oversight was obviously corrected, because she was the lead model for Hadascha, giving a clinic on how it's done.
