This season Nautica celebrated 30 years on the water with a special presentation at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The "Nautica Men's Black Sail Collection," was inspired by the nautical expeditions of Sir Ernest Shackleton said Designer Chris Cox. Crafted with fisherman cables, novelty yarns and colored shearlings, the collection was a modern, maritime expression of adventures. Hair and makeup were provided by Aveda. There were no shortage of parkas, sports jackets and preppy sailing gere. NFL Wide Receiver Brad Smith, actor Peter Facinelli were a few of the notables in attendance.
"You know, I grew up in New York, so I always felt like New York had such a great fashion place to grow up in and I miss that, being from L.A. I remember when I got out there, it was like everyone’s in jeans and t-shirts. So, to come home and be at the heart of the Fashion Week this week, it’s kind of fun for me. And there’s something nice about New York. When people go out to dinners, when they go out to Broadway plays, they get dressed up, they look together," Peter Facinelli told Examiner.com after the presentation.
Facinelli added, "the Nautica clothes are fantastic. They’re comfortable, you feel really classy in them, but they’re not too dressy and they’re not too casual. They just ride that fine line, which is really nice."
