Fashion Week is always such a crazy, whirlwind adventure! I have to look at my coffee table in the morning and try to remember what exactly took place in this dream-like fog I find myself in.
GBK, hosted a benefit dinner at the W Hotel on Lexington just before the beginning of Fashion Week to raise awareness about liver tumors. The GBK Suite last season at the Empire Hotel introduced all sorts of new brands and products. It was nice to learn that GBK also gives back to the community and is active with worthwhile charities as well.
Two of my favorite designers this season must be KaufmanFranco and Bibhu Mohapatra.
I read somewhere recently about KaufmanFranco designing the uniforms for the flight attendants at American Airlines and how Jennifer Lopez likes to wear KaufmanFranco on the red-carpet.
The afternoon show at Lincoln Center was a real treat indeed. The models on the runway at KaufmanFranco had sixties-style teased hair on top with light waves on the bottom. I imagined watching the Academy Awards and pictured some A-list celebrity also bragging about their KaufmanFranco gown.
Early this morning, at 9:00 a.m. to be exact, Bibhu Mohapatra brought out some famous faces along with my personal favorite, Ken Downing from Neiman Marcus.
Lots of "Wow's" I heard whispered at the Bibhu Mohapatra show. Gorgeous bright purple dresses, nifty patterns and lots of beaded-gown also Oscar-worthy.
The fall season is going to be a gorgeous one, that's for sure. However, I wish designers would not use so much fur or maybe try and use synthetic fabrics for the same effect.
Happy Fashion Week. Please check back for a glorious album on the latest looks!
