Fashion Week El Paseo Opening Night Doesn't Disappoint

Last night Saks Fifth Avenue opened Integrated Wealth Management Fashion Week El Paseo with a dazzling runway show. The night began with a red ribbon cutting officially kicking off this unique fashion event that takes place every year over nine days in Palm Desert, Calif.

Over a 1000 people gathered for opening night to watch the spring collections of Saks Fifth Avenue as model after model strutted down the massive runway (about 100 feet) in designs by Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney to name a few.

Photographers snapped photos as attendees made their way up the red carpet showcasing their own wardrobe. And once inside the big white tent, they enjoyed cocktails and mingling with friends and the fashion elite.

In its eighth year, Fashion Week El Paseo has grown from a three-day event with several hundred attendees to nine full days with an expected attendance of over 14,000 this year. The event boasts numerous runway shows, trunk shows and after-parties, and allows for consumers to meet their favorite designers and purchase items right on site. No other fashion event allows for this sort of access.

What's still to come? Tonight it's all about animals with the doggie designs from the desert's own, Linda Higgins. Proceeds from the event will go to the Humane Society of the Desert. And don't miss "The Drama and Designs of Project Runway", Victor Tung, Sue Wong, Katharine Polk and Gilbert Chagoury. Tickets are still available for all events, so don't miss the event of the year, Fashion Week El Paseo.
