Fashion week Brooklyn spotlights some of the top emerging designers from all over the world ripping the runway was Brooklyn based company Walker Wear I caught up with the designer after the show and here's what they had to say.

Getthebuzz716: Tell me a little about your brand. Where are you from?

Walker Wear: Walker Wear is a Brooklyn based brand. Walker Wear is an iconic urban/streetwear lifestyle brand that is dedicated to creating timeless fashion with quality, while offering unique styles with a fashion twist.

Getthebuzz716:What does fashion week Brooklyn mean to you?

Walker Wear: Fashion Week Brooklyn is a chance to spotlight Brooklyn and the great talent and creative fashion that is in this borough. We have so much creativity, fashion and Brooklyn is like no other place in this world.

Getthebuzz716: How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?

Walker Wear: Our pieces have different stages. We design first (takes about 4-6 weeks), and then sample which can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks, depending on if we construct our fashion development in the U.S. or internationally.

Getthebuzz716:Describe the general process you go through to design and What's your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?

Walker Wear:The general process of designing is being inspired. That can be many things but once I'm inspired, it usually takes a life of its own and then shapes a theme. This can be through time periods, movies, and/or societal statements…that is mainly my inspiration. Workwear is an influence for me.

Getthebuzz716:What matters to you most as a designer?

Walker Wear: Originality and quality.

Getthebuzz716:What do you believe makes a quality design ?

Walker Wear: A quality design for me is creating items that people can wear today or for years to come…not only one season. It should be able to last that long because of the quality, fabric, construction, and needle work. Getthebuzz716:How would you define the style your line exemplifies?

Walker Wear: I believe my line exemplifies urban/streetwear lifestyle fashion that celebrates and elevates our culture.

Getthebuzz716: What are some of your fashion goals?

Walker Wear: One of my goals with Walker Wear is to bridge the gap through fashion with Generation X & Y. Another fashion goal is to grow a successful e-commerce business that is fully vertical as a business model and to have happy and satisfied consumers!

Getthebuzz716:What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?

Walker Wear: I have over 25 years in fashion experience. I started very early with a Brooklyn custom tailor shop in 1988; I grew and started a styling division that has worked with greats like Tupac, BIG, Run-DMC, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Naughty By Nature and many others. I also have experience in working and consulting for other brands like Money Clothing, Russell Athletics, Champion, ECKO, Phat Farm, etc. from licensing to design to marketing. I also have a consulting company called www.awalkergroup.com

Getthebuzz716: What are your favorite patterns/materials [prints] to work with and why?

Walker Wear: Some of my favorite fabrics to work with are denim, bull denim & fleece. I like to work with earth tones and hues, and sprinkle more colors as accents for pop and fashion.
