Repurposed clothing is becoming a huge trend for the socially conscious fashionista fresh off the runway of fashion week Brooklyn is a designer called Born Again Vintage who does just that I caught up with the designer after the show.

Getthebuzz716 :Tell me a little about your brand. Where are you from?

Born Again Vintage: Born Again Vintage is a sustainable clothing line created by reconstructing vintage. The line came first, then the book, then the store. I am from New Jersey (Teaneck) but currently reside in montclair where my store is located.

Getthebuzz716: What does fashion week Brooklyn mean to you?

Born Again Vintage: Highlighting Eco fashion is extremely important so it's an honor to be apart of it in any capacity. Also getting a chance to show that sustainability can be couture is also crucial to spreading sustainable awareness.

Getthebuzz716: How would you define your Brand ?

Born Again Vintage: The meeting of two eras. The elegance of the yesteryears with the edge of today. Bringing old and new together to create something unique, classic and timeless.

Getthebuzz716: How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?

Born Again Vintage: I can complete a piece in 20 minutes if the idea comes quickly and I have all the elements to put it together. On average I would say 1-2 hours but there are some pieces that takes days, weeks, months!

Getthebuzz716: Describe the general process you go through to design and What's your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?

Born Again Vintage: I shop vintage which is apart of my favorite part of the process. I pick based on what I'm drawn to. Sometimes the piece can sit for a day or years before I use it but once I find it's perfect piece it's magic, and that is my other favorite part of the process. I can sometimes know immediately when picking a piece what I will turn it into and start as soon as I can. The other pieces just wait until it's match is found. But generally I know pretty immediate what I will or can do to a piece.

Getthebuzz716: What matters to you most as a designer?

Born Again Vintage: The opportunity to create without boundaries.

Getthebuzz716: What do you believe makes a quality design ?

Born Again Vintage: I think it's all the elements that go into that design, from fabrics you choose to the energy while making it.

Getthebuzz716: How would you define the style your line exemplifies?

Born Again Vintage: I think my line is random since they are all one of kind but collectively they are all unique pieces for unique individuals. My line exemplifies self expression...freedom.

Getthebuzz716: What are some of your fashion goals?

Born Again Vintage : I am actually working on a new collection that allows me to be less limited. Born Again Vintage are all one of kind pieces so if something is a hit there's only one and cannot be sold on a broader scale.

Getthebuzz716: What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?

Born Again Vintage: I went to FIT for buying so had several positions in the industry as a buyer, allocator, and manager. In Bloomies, strawberrys and Macys.

Getthebuzz716 :What are your favorite patterns/materials [prints] to work with and why?

Born Again Vintage: I love vintage prints, I work with all vintage but also love working with fur. My favorite print is probably Houndstooth.

Getthebuzz716 : Where can readers find out more about you and your work?
