Fall is in the air. Really! Well, at least in New York City as designers and the fashion industry gear up for the Mercedes-Benz Fall 2014 collection, mbfashionweek.com that kicks off in February at Lincoln Center.
According to industry insiders, this year’s event will mark a departure from previous years. Event producer IMG Fashion announced that the February shows would introduce redesigned on-site show venues that will offer more versatile environments. These changes will also make it more desirable for new designers to debut their collections.
New this year will be The Pavilion – a brand new venue at Lincoln Center, and The Hub at Hudson – a flexible presentation space for new and emerging designers to showcase their work. Iconic designer, Diane von Furstenberg, who will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of her wrap-dress, is looking forward to the new look. “2014 is a very special year for my brand and I wanted to do something special to celebrate. I am looking forward to hosting my show at a space that is unique to this season’s vision and celebration, and excited to continue being part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.”
Also loving this “new” look are Creatures of The Wind designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters. “As each season marks new growth for us, for Fall 2014 we decided to look for a premium show space that would allow us to create an environment tailored to our aesthetic. The introduction of The Pavilion offers us the chance to show in a venue that feels unique to Creatures of The Wind.”
So yes, Fall 2014 is nearly here. Thousands of media, stylists, celebrities, VIPs and more will be joined by over 3 million fashion consumers globally when the international fashion week circuit kicks off in New York City Feb. 6, 2014.
