On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, EQ Enterprises, a Clarence 'KD' Mc Nair vision, along with Instinct Magazine, Lifebeat, and Music Fights HIV/AIDS, hosted the Official NY Fashion Week Kick-off Party® at XL Nightclub in Manhattan. The lavish red carpet event, with music by The Untouchable: DJ Fame, was graced by a number of celebrities and industry elites including champion boxer Zab Judah, singer/songwriter Tracy Gayle, Boy Meets Girl founder and creative director Stacy Igel, Grammy Award nominee and Latino Inaugural Ball performer Frankie Negron, singer/songwriter/producer Jay Reezy, actor Malik Yoba, actress Angelina Pivarnick and Bruno Mars’ girlfriend, model/actress Jessica Caban.
Fashion forward designers in attendance included Bronson J., Candice Williaams, whose 'Abeyo Marqz' line was famously donned by Nicki Minaj in her MAC 'Viva Glam' lip glass promo, celebrity designer Jason Christopher Peters and Lola Fashion Accessories owner Stacie Stewart, who was also a sponsor and presenter of the party along with EQ Enterprises and all other affiliates.
Former Jersey Shore cast member, Angelina Pivarnick was in attendance and told Examiner she has a new single out titled “Serendipity” with recording artist Adam Barta. Angela and Adam were both strong opponents on opposite sides of the gay marriage issue with Adam being pro and Angela against. “I received a lot of hate mail after the infamous gay marriage internet debate with Adam and realized I was wrong,” said Angelina. Since then, she and Adam have become friends and teamed up to record the single. She is also working on a “behind the scenes” tell all book about her stint with MTV’s Jersey Shore.
After the flashing camera lights captured the red carpet arrival of actor Malik Yoba, Examiner sat down for a brief interview. Best known for his starring role as NYPD Detective J.C. Williams on the FOX police drama series New York Undercover, we found out that Malik is not only an actor, but also a singer, composer, playwright, published author and director as well. He is directing the film titled What’s On the Hearts of Men, which documents a young man's journey into manhood and masculinity. He also has a “Working Actor w/Malik Yoba Workshop” which was recently featured at Black MPAC in Houston on February 9. When asked which collection he is looking forward to see during Fashion Week he mentioned Tom Ford.
The party, in collaboration with The Allocated Formula Group, Plevé by Ron Rizzo and The Out NYC, was a designer-focused, fashion forward celebration which combined beauty, fashion media, tastemakers, and industry executives to jump start the highly-anticipated New York Fashion Week, which is now in full swing.
