'Fashion Star': One designer gets redemption

The groundbreaking show has returned yes, “Fashion Star” premiered tonight, this show captivated audiences’ attention, not just because the designers are superb, but reward for a job well done is received right then and there.

This season the designers have been divided in three groups of four, one for John Varvatos, a second one for Jessica Simpson, and the third for Nicole Richie. Tonight’s premiere consisted of the designers creating two show stopping pieces, there were those who made a sale and subsequently saved from elimination. One designer, Hunter, from Jessica’s team stood out because her designs had sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, however, at one point the store ended their relationship and her career appeared to be spiraling out of control. Now, by being in the competition her goal was to get back on Saks’ shelves. Not only did she sell to Saks, but at the same time made the greatest sale in the show’s history $200,000.

There was Bret, who has been successful designing men’s clothing, tonight decided to take a risk and went for women’s clothing even though his mentor, Nicole, had advised against it, and found himself up for elimination, along with two other designers who are categorized on the show as just one, but Bret was the first to be eliminated, not the right time for risk taking.

“Fashion Star” runs on Friday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.
