In an effort to promote retail, restore consumer confidence and celebrate fashion, Vogue has initiated a global fashion block party, Fashion's Night Out. On September 10, the first evening of New York Fashion week, NYC will be encompassed in the festivities where stores will stay open late, editors, designers, models and celebrities will be on hand and there will be events such as movie screenings, rock concerts and bicycle giveaways. Fashion's Night Out will be going on around the world tomorrow night in Russia, France, Italy, India and many other countries. While New York City is the fashion headquarters of the US, and Vogue's official location for Fashion's Night Out, the DC fashion community wanted to get in on the action as well.
The Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce and the MidCity Business Association have teamed up for a DC Fashion's Night Out along the U Street corridor. Participating stores include Redeem, Caramel, Rue14, Muleh, Treasury, Palace 5, DEKKA, Stem, Junction and Lettie Gooch. Caramel will be offering up to 50% off from 8-11pm; they will also be serving wine and shoppers will have the opportunity to win a $50 gift card. Muleh will be having discounts from 6-10pm with live music, cocktails and a drawing to win a $500 gift card. While MidCity will be hosting the main event, many retailers around town are celebrating with discounts and parties so check in with your favorite store and see if they're doing anything special for the evening.
