The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards kicked off at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills California on Sunday to a swarm of fans, press, and red carpet frenzy. The Red Carpet was lined up with stars, some dazzling others under the radar, and a few glamed up knockout hits.
Halle Berry was among the knockouts in a daring one shoulder cut out dress-- fit for a superstar. Halle was above the fray on the red carpet, as the fashion consensus was narrowed down to three things; embellishments via beading, shine and shimmer, and casual fits.
Channeling 2012's preferred hairstyle of choice many stars wore side swept curls a la Lana del Ray. This beauty look was abundant on the red carpet as Heidi Klum, Rachel Weiss, Jessica Alba, Lea Michelle, Rosario Dawson, Isla Fisher, Meagan Fox and Jennifer Lopez opted for the look.
Switching from hair to wardrobe trends, there were a few stunners in addition to a couple of misses on the red carpet last night. Actress Eva Longoria, who is usually a regular on red carpet it list missed the mark last night in a revealing black lace number.
Longoria appeared to be too preoccupied with a potential wardrobe malfunction of a thigh high slit that with the wrong wind current would have exposed more than just her thighs.
Other misses included Actress Marion Cotillard whose understated red strapless dress was just that-understated, a little to casual for a red carpet awards ceremony. Actress Kerry Washington also took a cue from the understated playbook and opted for a rather bland sheer beaded number not befitting of an Awards Ceremony.
Overall the style choices were fairly impressive but not on par with year's past. This year many of stars went the casual route and kept it simple, relaxed and chic which could be a failure or success depending on your style perspective. I say last night red carpet looks was a mix of both.
