Alica Keys the New Face for Givenchy Fragrance

R&B Crooner Alicia Keys has signed on as the face for Givenchy's newest fragrance Dahlia Divin. The fragrance, which debuts worldwide in September, will be available in three sizes and is a blend of sandalwood, patchouli, mirabelle plum, vetiver and jasmine. Keys is featured in a series of ads which will debut leading up to the launch in September. The ads center on women as "modern-day goddesses."

CEO of American Apparel Fired

The former CEO of American Apparel, Don Chavey, was fired earlier this week amidst a growing storm of controversy. The controversy stemmed from a line of setbacks including, several lawsuits alleging sexual harassment, ongoing criticism surrounding sexually charged campaign ads, and an apparent "ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct." Chavey, 45, who founded the company and oversaw it through its inception, has seen its shares dwindle by a large margin within the past few months. No word yet on who will replace him.

L'Oreal Acquires NYX Cosmetics

Beauty retailer L'Oreal has acquired NYX Cosmetics. According to reports made on Wednesday, L'Oreal has agreed to buyout NYX Cosmetics, a makeup line that banks on high quality, affordable products. The line was created by entrepreneur Toni Ko and under the acquisition NYX Cosmetics will become part of the Consumer Products Division of L'Oréal. In a statement released to the press, Ko stated, "We possess a shared commitment to creating best in class products and the NYX consumer stands to benefit enormously from L'Oréal's extensive marketing, distribution and R&D resources."
