New local non-profit, Fashion Incubator San Francisco or FISF, announced today the six emerging fashion designers who have been accepted into the first annual “Designers in Residence” program. FISF is located at Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco and the charitable program offers six designers the tools they need to launch their collections.
Jeanne Allen, FISF Executive Director: “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the talent and motivation of our first class of Designers in Residence. Each brings a unique set of skills and experiences inspired by people and places around the globe. We’re eager to help them put their individual stamp on the world of fashion and establish their businesses here in San Francisco.”
FISF offers a one-year program to six, hand-selected designers which offers workspace, resources and access to experts in the fashion design field in order to help their establish and grow their business. The program was established to help remove the barrier to entry emerging fashion designers face when trying to launch their businesses. The program is also hoping to keep local designers in San Francisco rather than have them leave for New York or Los Angeles.
The six, hand-selected “Designers in Residence” are current residents of San Francisco and offer global experience and inspiration.
